Affermazioni stoiche sull’amore per sé stessi, con le parole degli stoici

Gli stoici non hanno scritto affermazioni, ma hanno scritto dell’amore per sé: Seneca descrive il saggio che si ritira in sé stesso e vive con sé, e Marco Aurelio si stupisce che ciascuno ami sé stesso più di tutti gli altri e tuttavia dia meno valore alla propria opinione su di sé che a quella degli altri. Le loro frasi fanno della stima di sé una questione di giudizio, non di lodi ricevute o ripetute.
