Meditations, III, 9

Chapter 9 of Book III of the Meditations. First the passage as Stoïque shows it, after Long, 1862; then the whole chapter, word for word, in that edition, and the same chapter in French.

The passage in the app

Reverence the faculty which produces opinion.

— MARCUS AURELIUS · MEDITATIONS, III, 9

After Long, 1862 — modernized.

On the widgets

MeditationsIII·9

As on the Home Screen and the Lock Screen: the passage, then its reference, glued to the bottom. The reference never leaves the composition, even in the smallest family.

The whole chapter in Long’s 1862 edition

Reverence the faculty which produces opinion. On this faculty it entirely depends whether there shall exist in thy ruling part any opinion inconsistent with nature and the constitution of the rational animal. And this faculty promises freedom from hasty judgment, and friendship towards men, and obedience to the gods.
