Meditations, XII, 22

Chapter 22 of Book XII of the Meditations. First the passage as Stoïque shows it, after Long, 1862; then the whole chapter, word for word, in that edition, and the same chapter in French.

The passage in the app

Consider that everything is opinion, and opinion is in your power. Take away your opinion when you choose, and like a sailor who has rounded the headland you will find calm, all things steady, a waveless bay.

— MARCUS AURELIUS · MEDITATIONS, XII, 22

After Long, 1862 — modernized.

Not every widget family holds a passage this long. The app never cuts one: where it does not fit, a shorter passage takes its place, with its reference. The circular widget carries the locator alone.

The whole chapter in Long’s 1862 edition

Consider that everything is opinion, and opinion is in thy power. Take away then, when thou choosest, thy opinion, and like a mariner who has doubled the promontory, thou wilt find calm, everything stable, and a waveless bay.
